Wenger had asked fans not to react with hostility to the former Togo international in his pre-match programme notes, but there was no quelling the anger from the majority of the home support.
When asked what he thought about the boos, Wenger said: "What can I do about that?
"I said before the game that I want everybody to be respected so you know clearly what I think." The French tactician did concede that the introduction of Adebayor spiced up what was not the best footballing spectacle.
"It made it a bit livelier because our supporters suddenly got lively," he added.
On the game itself Arsene Wenger had this to say. "He (Adebayor) was focused and motivated and sharp and he won some longer balls and that's why suddenly it was a bit livelier."But even then they (City) didn't commit a lot. They played a lot on the counter-attack and when you can break counter-attacks up there is not a lot of trouble.
"We created very few chances and Manchester City didn't create anything. They were highly focused on defending well and we could not find the opener.
"And, as long as we couldn't do that, it was a locked game."
The result means Arsenal are almost assured of third place in the league table as City stay fifth as they chase the final UEFA Champions League place.
When asked who out of Tottenham, City and Aston Villa would clinch fourth spot, Wenger remarked: "That's very difficult to predict.
"You would expect the two teams winning their next game and then it will be Man City v Tottenham that will be the decider.
"Man City has a little home advantage but it will be interesting until the end.
"It's difficult to predict. I'm not good enough in predictions to say."
